By using Waq, you agree to these terms. We have written them in plain English so you actually know what you are agreeing to. Last updated January 2026.

Using Waq

  • —Waq is a personal Quran companion. It is designed for Muslims seeking connection with the Quran in their daily moments.
  • —You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • —One account per person. Your account is personal to you and may not be shared.
  • —You are responsible for keeping your password secure.

What Waq is — and is not

  • —Waq is a reflection and research companion. It is not a source of religious rulings (fatwas).
  • —Verse explanations are drawn from classical Islamic scholarship but should not replace consultation with a qualified scholar for personal religious questions.
  • —We have taken care to ground all content in the classical tafsir tradition. However, always verify with a scholar for matters of importance to your deen.

Your content

  • —Your journal entries belong to you. We do not claim ownership of anything you write.
  • —You grant us permission to store your content securely so the service can function.
  • —You may export or delete your content at any time from your settings.

Subscriptions and billing

  • —The free plan is free forever — no credit card required.
  • —The Companion plan is billed monthly or annually depending on your choice at signup.
  • —You may cancel anytime from your settings. No cancellation fees.
  • —Refunds for the current billing period are available within 7 days of payment if you have not made significant use of premium features. Contact us at support@waqapp.com.

Acceptable use

  • —Do not attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
  • —Do not use Waq to generate or distribute content that is misleading or harmful.
  • —Do not attempt to reverse-engineer or scrape the service.

Termination

  • —You may close your account at any time from settings.
  • —We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
  • —On closure, your journal entries are permanently deleted within 30 days.

Disclaimer

  • —Waq is provided "as is." We make no warranty that it will be error-free or uninterrupted.
  • —Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding any claim.
  • —These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
